Welcome back! It's good to see you again. Please note that I am now publishing all new material at my hub site: In Context Blog
10:40 am - I am sitting in the waiting area for Gate 8 in the Manchester Airport, waiting for my flight. It is so hot in here I am about to pass out. There are a few other folks with their laptops open, some reading, and one crying baby. I pray that the baby isn’t going to DC with us!
The terminal is surprisingly quiet, though, not too many people traveling at this time of day. I need to remember that for the next time I take a trip. Getting through security was a breeze, only 4 people in line and the TSA staff were quite friendly.
I just received an e-mail from Orbitz telling me that my flight is on-time and all systems go. That is a cool feature.
30 minutes to my flight, so I am going to power down. I will update in DC if there is enough time between flights.
12:45 pm - Just arrived in DC, it’s raining here. I have to wait for a shuttle to go over to the United terminal.
2:30 pm - Arrived in Chicago safely. Now I am off to meet my parents for dinner at Pizzeria Due. My FAVORITE restaurant, for pizza.
7:00 pm - Just returned to the hotel, it’s much warmer here than in Maine. Duh.
Going to freshen up and head over to the Fuel My Blog meetup.
There’s a web application out there with your company’s name written all over it. In fact, there are probably several. An entire suite of online software, even. A spreadsheet calls out for collaboration. E-mail beckons you to receive, manage and archive from anywhere in the world. Even the whole product development process is looking to take the online leap. As a nimble, growing business, you’re in a perfect position to take advantage of these maturing web applications to boost employee productivity, keep IT costs down and reach out to employees and clients around the globe.
“Consumers deserve more choices and more competition than they have in the wireless world today. And at a time when so many Americans don’t have access to the internet, this auction provides an unprecedented opportunity to bring the riches of the net to more people.” [the Google blog, ed.]
Google has long been a proponent of network-neutrality legislation, which would require all web traffic to be treated equally. The legislation was proposed to address the worry that the companies owning the broadband pipes — cable and phone companies — could essentially create a fast and slow lane for web traffic, charging content and service companies for the higher-speed delivery. Google’s vying for a piece of the spectrum is also considered a hedge against that sort of scenario.

There are a lot of online GTD applications out there, but I think that Accomplice looks pretty interesting, with better features than Stikkit, especially for collaboration and tracking. Watch the video introduction and check out the system.
These are some of the very attractive features:
Outlook Calendar and Email integration The Accomplice dashboard provides easy access to your activities as well as your Outlook Calendar, Outlook emails (or other email systems), and contacts. Lots more integration coming soon…
Turn emails into actions With Accomplice, you can keep a balanced perspective on which emails truly deserve to be on your to-do-list, which ones can safely be deferred to come on your plate later, and which ones can be filed away… so you can spend your time doing what’s really important, not just what’s at the top of your Inbox.
Import and export spreadsheets If you currently use a spreadsheet, like Excel, to manage your tasks, you can export or import your activities to or from Excel, and customize the columns and values in Excel to match your current system.
Automatic backups All your data is safely stored on your own computer, constantly saved and frequently backed up to a location of your choosing. Or install Accomplice on a U3 Smart USB flash drive and take your entire activity management system with you anywhere you go.
Print it You can easily print your custom lists of activities (e.g. what to do at home) or project summaries.
If you already use it, let me know what you think. I am going to load it on my USB flash drive and check it out.
