Tuesday Focused Thread

Welcome back! It's good to see you again. Please note that I am now publishing all new material at my hub site: In Context Blog
Good morning people. I am taking a little break from shoveling out after the snowstorm to create a Comment thread. I have also been working on a big project that is taking up a lot of time, plus preparing a proposal for a potential client, so pre-posting was not an option this weekend.
How are you doing so far with your January goals?
That is the question, isn’t it? We are halfway through the month, and I invite you to share your progress with our readers. If you have not taken the time to sit down and work out your goals for 2008, please take a look at this post (click here) from last year.
I guarantee that the tutorial can help you create a list of concrete goals with SMART action-steps (Wikipedia article here).
If you still need some help in setting your goals, or guidance as to how exactly to break them down into specific action-steps, leave a comment about that too, and I will get back to you via e-mail for some free coaching.

Alas, my January goals are not coming along as well as I would have hoped. Procrastination and end of the year reports have taken over. However, I have a wonderfully organized volunteer who will be stepping in to help me when she returns from an out of town trip. So by February, I hope to be able to report more progress.
My main goal is get my desk and files organized to coincide with the GTD process. Then I’ll work on the office files and finally, my house (blegh!). Little by little, I will get things done. I just want it NOW! LOL

So far, I am managing to chip away at my 2008 goals, which include some pretty hefty projects like cleaning out my home office files (as well as files from my pre-virtual agency days), staying focused on my work to-do list, cleaning out the basement and garage (actually throwing stuff out or donating it) and more meaningful ones which include spending time with family, reconnecting with old friends, changing my diet and working out five days a week (is nice that there is plenty of snow for cross country skiing). However, it is only mid-January, so anything can fall off the cart.
Best wishes for a meaningful and productive 2008!

Stephen, I’m doing remarkably poorly! I’m astonished at how fast I’ve forgotten to do anything out of the ordinary. Your post is a good reminder to get back on the horse (as DA says) and retool, refocus and refresh.
