Blogger Interview - Al, author of 7P Productions

January 7th, 2008 by Stephen

Posted in Blogger Interviews, Community, GTD |

Welcome back! It's good to see you again. Please note that I am now publishing all new material at my hub site: In Context Blog

This interview is part of a series on bloggers of all kinds, where we get to know a little more about these writers that are changing the world, one post at a time.

Today we have a conversation with Al from 7PProductions.com, a new entry into the productivity blogosphere. Let’s go ahead and start with the basics:

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in many cities and actually in many countries, but I consider
San Diego, CA to be my hometown. I currently live in the Washington DC
area, but sure miss California!

How did you get to where you are?
Start with your work experience:

I am currently an engineer and it suits my personality well. When i was
in the 7th grade, an engineer spoke to my class and told us that as an engineer, he had a use for math and science, which were subjects that interested me. I think schools need to do stuff like this much more often.

Your interests?

I have a strong interest in personal development. I feel like I am a
lifelong student and I thrive on learning and growing.

I definitely understand that. My wife, however, does not. She thinks we’re nuts because we like to learn for fun. What are your hobbies?

My hobby would be writing, but not just for blogging but also for fiction
writing. I’ve begun to actively pursue being a novelist.

Hey, there are a few bloggers that have become novelists! Maybe you’ll be next. Speaking of novels, what was the last book that you read?
Fiction:

Infoquake” by David Louis Edelman. Imagine “Blade Runner” meets “Wall Street.” Hard to imagine the combination, but the book was a good sci-fi page turner.

Non-fiction:

Lincoln on Leadership” by Donald Phillips. I really enjoy learning about
the past great leaders and particularly about the principles they used for
their success.

What is your most important accomplishment?

That’s a tough one. There’s a lot of life and career achievements I’m
proud of that were related to my family and friends, and they’re all
important in their own special way.

With regards to my personal goals, I’d say with all honesty it would be
blogging, because it helped me to join a vibrant community where I learn
and share so much. As a life-long learner, it’s been overwhelming!

What is your next big goal?

To finish my first breakout novel and get it published!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Finishing up my trilogy :)

That’s the way, swing for the fence! Okay, just one more, Who or what was your inspiration to start blogging?

There are too many good bloggers out there to mention, but my inspiration
for blogging is from my desire to share. The greatest joy comes when your
dreams come true, and the greatest fulfillment comes when the rest of the
world can share those dreams.

Thanks Al, good luck on the novel, and we look forward to more sharing.

Hi Stephen - just wanted to say thanks for the interview. It’s an honor to be included with the other great bloggers you interviewed.

    BTW, cool addition with Babelfish!
