Design Your Writing Life

Welcome back! It's good to see you again. Please note that I am now publishing all new material at my hub site: StephenPSmith.com
My friend Lisa, who has a blog at Design Your Writing Life, held a group coaching call this past Friday and it was a real jolt for me. At the beginning of our conversation she made it clear that she was not there to tell us the answers to what may be vexing us, but rather to guide us in discovering our core values and how to apply them.
Commit to Yourself
The theme that ran through the entire call was, “What do you want to do, and what is holding you back?” Stopping for a moment to think about that, with other people listening and expecting an answer was a powerful experience. I had to really get inside my imagination and see in my mind’s eye exactly what I wanted to achieve (we were discussing my secret project). The truly valuable part was to describe the end result and then make it real for them, as I had not yet done that for myself. My ideas were just a list in a Circa notebook, without form or substance. I had come to the call with this very goal in mind, to take a loose, half-baked concept and see if we could turn it into something concrete.
Once I was able to express to the group where I wanted to be and what I wanted to achieve, I was able to create a plan and a timeline. “What is the bottom line?” Lisa asked, and prompted me to deliver. Today, not even a week later, the wheels are turning!
Will it Work for You?
Lisa is holding another free group coaching call this Friday, 14 December, and I highly recommend that you check it out. For more information, click here to learn about the bigger workshops.

Stephen, I’m so happy to see how much movement the questions produced for you. You were a very willing accomplice, and that helps :-)
