Happy Birthday, RAH

July 2nd, 2007 by Stephen

Posted in Books, Just fun |

Welcome back! It's good to see you again. Please note that I am now publishing all new material at my hub site: In Context Blog

Robert A. Heinlein was one of my very favorite authors as I was growing up. His centenary birthday is on Saturday, July 7th. John J. Miller has an article here:

He was the first sci-fi author to make the bestseller lists, the winner of multiple awards, and the inspiration for a legion of proteges and imitators whose own volumes now weigh down bookstore shelves. He was not the most accomplished literary stylist in his genre, but he spun a good yarn, grappled with big questions, and left an enduring imprint on a popular field. He was arguably the preeminent sci-fi author of the 20th century.

Happy birthday to RAH!!! I can still remember his book about Metuselah’s Children. It was a great series that kept me company while I was in college and away from home.

Happy birthday to R.A.H. and happy 4th of July to everyone!

Heinlein hooked me on science fiction with “Have spacesuit will travel” and “The moon is a harsh mistress.”
